Description
The USS Missouri, the 'Mighty Mo', is anchored off Ford Island, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
The USS Missouri is one of four 45,000 ton IOWA class battleships and was commissioned on 11 June 1944. She was the site of the World WarII Japanese surrender ceremonies on 2 September 1945 in Tokyo Bay.
All four IOWA class battleships were active in WW II and the Korean War and all four were reactivated in the 1980s. The USS Missouri recommissioning was in May 1986. She participated in the 1991 Persian Gulf war and was decommissioined for the last time in March 1992 and stricken from the Naval Vessel Register in 1995. She was transferred to Pearl Harbor, Hawaii in June 1998 to become a memorial.

Very impressive and magnificent hardware Sig. I've seen old film footage of the WWII Japanese surrender ceremony, it must churn up some emotions and feelings of those historical events while you were able to stand there Sig.
