Description
When I visited the Arlington Cemetary in Washington DC a couple of year ago, I was deeply touched by this - the grave of the unknown soldier. The incription on the tomb reads:
HERE RESTS IN HONORED GLORY AN AMERICAN SOLDIER.
KNOWN BUT TO GOD.
I learned that there is a guard on duty 24 hours per day. I was priviledged enough to actually also see the changing of the guards.
Thank you for stopping by.
Hugs, Carin xx

Very moody image ! Great work !
A wonderfully poignant capture! Excellent idea to use selective colouring!
touching picture. great b&w/color focus
Very clever use of selective colour, my dear Carin. The subject [as you know] is especially poignant for me, so thank you for that also. Hugs Mike xx
Great capture and very beautiful selective coloring. Looks superb!
excellent image and selective coloring my friend, the perfection of these guards is amazing to watch. great work !!
An excellent presentation, really impressive, brilliant postwork!!
Powerful image ! I like the use of the selective colouring.
Excellent capture Carin, good use of selective colour. I admire those guards doing what they do, I don't think I could spend the time they do just marching up and down, it would drive me nuts. I have to agree with Alan, a powerful image. Bravo!!!!!
Perfect composition and lighting!!!
What a fantastic colour pop Carin, great postwork, very well done!!!
wonderful work Carin, a powerful subject very neatly postworked
Nice selective colors it really works well with this photo, nicely done!
perfect tribute
outstanding work.. the selective color is fantastic.. i have have been a few times in the past and it is one of the most important places in the usa.
This is a "class" use of selective coloring if I ever saw one. Excellent work!
Nice picture, I just visited there last week with my son who's in the army and it was a humbling experience. The guards are there in all type of weather. They have a very strict policy and only a very few qualify.
Again a stunning experience and an excellent shot. Perfect use of selective desaturation. Cheers, Clive ;)
Its a powerful reminder of those that were lost in battle and never returned or returned unclaimed. Your postwork is a lovely tribute to this monument. and its a great shot to boot!
As an Army veteran I really appreciate this marvelous and poignant photo, Carin.
WOWWWWWWWW Very clever use of selective colour!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I feel the same way whenever visiting a military memoria. superb capture and interesting selective coloring
A beautifully captured picture Carin. It is amazing that this image was taken and posted by a visitor to this country. I have never been to Arlington, but occasionally I attend military functions, including funerals, and I get chills down my spine when I listen to tabs being played. Thanks for posting this, Sig...
Nice touch Carin, I keep meaning to work out how to do that myself.
Very nice image and work!
Excellent capture and post, love this style
Very dramatic!!!!!!!! love it!!
Excellent composition and lighting.Superb capture.
Striking message which a number of us can associate with all over the world. Good choice for the selective coloring.
I've had the privilege of participating in a wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb Of The Unknowns. It was a somber and unforgettable moment. A few years ago, many years after the wreath laying, I revisited Arlington and visited all the grave sites that have unfortunately been added over the years such as the Challenger memorial, Pete Conrad (astronaut), Stuart Roosa (astronaut), David Walker (astronaut), Pan Am Flight 103, the First Gulf War headstones, and many others.
