Description
My wife and her family plan to plant a redbud tree at the church he was part of. He left the earth on April 18, 2007. This image of some of his farm was taken later that year. The tree and all made me look back and post an image he would like. This was nature, fun, a wonderful 89 acres with deer and wild turkeys and always hay to mow. That is what he liked best, on the tractor mowing. In years past, the tractor led many a hayride for kids around the place.
When Harold finally "bought the farm", meaning he left this earth, his farm had become a joy to all of us and a place for him to spend time and love it.

this is a wonderful tribute...I'm sure he would be pleased
Fantastic Capture. I love the scene composition
superb image tom!
There is something to be said for being a caretaker of the earth. Farming is as close to mother nature as you can get in a career. This is a wonderful scene...a far view of land that is waiting, a near view of the tools of the trade - also waiting, and an expectant feel as if any moment someone will walk into the frame. Very rich in emotion.
This is a fantastic, moving image...especially in light of a conversation I had with one of my English students...well...she's actually a friend, but I'm helping her get her English up to snuff as well. She and I were talking about the differences between American and Czech life, and she was stunned that Americans don't go mushroom gathering "in the nature" as is so common here in the Czech Republic, but on the flipside of that, she actually spent some time in the USA...in small towns. What she remembered was a lot like what's captured in this image! Open space, greenery, and equipment well used by farmers. Seeing this image, especially after the conversation I had brings a lot full circle; there is so much elegant simplicity that we tend to overlook, and this picture captures that elegance, beautifully. There's warmth in this picture, especially in the richness of the green and the implicit dedication. Fantastic work. I like it quite a lot.
Excellent composition, the busy foreground in contrast with the light green relaxed view of the background.
This is simply a magnificent tribute to him you have done Tom and your photo is so very beautiful.

Excellent capture!
Excellent image and "tribute".
This is such a lovely place. I can feel the solitude and peace here. To be able to call such a place home would be a blessing indeed. What a wondrous thing to be able to share with family. I'm sure he will smile wherever he is at the thought of a redbud tree. My Dad would.
