Description
Slaolie Style, the name in our language for the Dutch variant of Jugendstil, Art Nouveau. At the beginning there was the poster of Jan Toorop for the Delft Salad Oil Manufacturing Company. Jugend Stil artists were most active in architecture and the whole period lasted only short. Also for the painter Jan Toorop it was only a passing between his earlier realistic and more impressionistic works and his later religious works, influenced by cubism. Also in this fractal, another IFS-Barnsley+jockIII, we see traces of cubism, some sharp transistions, inherent to this Jock Cooper ufm.

Yes ... I know and love Jan Toorop's work [indeed most art nouveau artists] and those canvas-wide sinous lines of his are stunning! This lovely piece is [imho] a very appropriate response to his work. Superb! Mike

Thanks for that background history, Ed! My husband came and looked over my shoulder just now, and we both like the spiral and surrounding area on the right side of the image (and getting him really interested in a piece is cool!). Your texturing in this is interesting too!

Gorgeous. I appreciate the information, too. I learn so much visiting people's galleries who obviously know what they're doing. This is a lovely fractal. I love Art Nouveau and Art Deco, and this work appeals to me a lot.
