Nikon 7900 pocket camera - hand held image.
Well I am starting to feel guilty about taking time off from my house project but I did need the break. Anyway, I intend to resume that project in the morning. That means my postings will slow down for a while once again. I will not have time to take pics, edit pics, post pics or even look at pics, lol.
This photo shows one of 4 basic color variations of the Irises I got from my Mom's garden about 14 years ago. I have white ones, yellow ones, purple ones and these. There used to be some that had almost brown shades as well, but they have not bloomed in a very long time so I suppose that variety died out. They are all pretty but this is my favorite of them all. Sadly, each bloom only lasts a few days but luckily, they put out numerous buds that open at different times, so there are new blooms for several weeks.

Lee, I have all 5 of your irises as well as a soft baby blue that is a small flower on long graceful stalks and I also have a pastel blue that is nearly white with large flowers on sturdy stalks. :-) I just love the way they look and you are right-they only last a day or two but they produce up to 10 on each stalk. Oh, you have captured this one so brilliantly!

I love iris. I used to raise all colors of them. They won't grow well where I live now and I miss them. Thanks for posting this. Beautiful shot!
