Description
Paris. Louvre. The practice of assembling antique pieces and shards in a complex composition has been going on from the renaissance to nowadays (in Tel Aviv there's a thriving craftmanship of modern jewels made around roman shards of glassware). In Rome we have the wonderful Castellani collection in the Villa Giulia museum, the best pieces in Paris are in the Cabinet des Medailles, Rue Richelieu, but they won't allow photos. This is a wonderful piece, roman crystal and stone carvings, assembled in a XIX century composition. Wonder if it is first or second empire ... And that's my wife looking at it in the background ...
