Description
South Warnborough ~ the name derives from "Weargebuman", evidently the Saxon name for Whitewater and meaning "felon stream", i.e. "the stream where felons are drowned.
The parish rises southwards from the valley of the River Whitewater to the North Downs at over 700 feet - the highest point in the district. The undulating countryside is unspoilt and the village contains old brick and half-timbered cottages, many under thatch. The 12/13th Century Church of St. Andrew is worth a visit for it has many interesting Norman features.

Beautiful place - I love the villages in the UK. Excellent capture!
Enchanting village, lovely cottage architecture, very peaceful surroundings.
So Happy you got out and about at the weekend. A beautiful shot. The road leads the eye right into the picture. A wonderful place for a gentle wander. Excellent work, Dear David. Hugs. Di. xx
Excellent pov David, the road and hedgerow taking the eye into the picture, I like those cottages even though these aren't thatched. This I think is the north side, looking at the moss on the roof's. Although the cottages are quaint I don't think I would want to live there, so close to the road. Fantastic capture and a superb narrative. Bravo!!!!!
Lovely photograph. Splendid composition!
Another classic postcard! super.
A great shot, this place is superb David!

Great photograph of a beautiful village in Hampshire. I appreciate the history. This road used to be part of the old A32 which runs down the Meon Valley all the way to Portsmouth throuhg many pretty villages.
