Aloha !! What a fantastic capture of mother Nature we, french citizens, couldn't imaginate... Excellent shot in hard condition Bravo q:) Magali
The process continues...new land develops wiping out the old...either way we win, the ever growing Big Island...Great shot! Aloha~
Wow thats so cool to see the glow.
I like the ones on the left that seem to be (or even are, I'm not sure) glowing already as well
look like one is burning now.this is a wonderful shot
use your imagination, it looks like a dragons head, great capture of our earths explosive nature:):):):):)
Harsh terrian and amazing terraforming
Yes, like a primeval beast or creative force of some sort..Sharky, you have give us another but slightly different lava shot and thanks for this one.
Ohhh, that red hot lava goes right to the lovely fern. Powerful image.
Wow fantastic! Is this Kona? My husband is also Hawaiian and wishes to know. Thanks...We are coming to Hawaii in 2009 for a few weeks, maybe we will see you there. Aloha!
fantastic serie !
No way to run, no way to save themselves... Great shot!
Wonderfull shot as always in this serie!
fantastic picture:)
beautiful capture.
OMG, what an eerie sight! Reminds me of the blob in the movies, THE BLOB. That sure looks like an evil eye about halfway up the body of the creature, really looking forward to gobbling up the vulnerable fern plant. And the front of the hot gray lava looks like pincers. Super capture!
Wow!!!!! That is one hot shot!!!!! Love it!!!!
beautifully shot omg i can almost feel its heat!! you are so brave !!!
cries bye bye lil ferns! .... how sad! ... Eggsalent capture here sharky!!
Those little ferns are proud right up until the last second!!!!!! Amazing image Errol!!!!! Aloha...
Awesome light reflection on the fern! Wonderful series, Errol!
That's awesome. What a wonderful feel this has! Cool shot.
phenomenal!
They'll go out in a blaze of glory, for sure. Another wonderful image in this set, Errol. Something I've noticed in these is the large area of the new flow with glowing spots. I don't know if it's hotter than usual, or there's more of it at the surface, or what, but this is quite different from what I saw a year ago.
Almost looks like a burnt loco moco..... Nice shot. Aloha
nice capture of the nature.
Just phenomenal, I love these!! I am so definitely making a trip there this year; it's been WAY too long!!
Dennis...During the long ongoing eruption from Pu'u O'o volcano, it had developed a large network of lava tubes and in the direction towards the sea. A lot of lava was travelling underground yet some will come out to the surface as seen from our past hikes. But with this newest fissure outbreak, mostly everything right now is surface lava. If it continues like the others did, it will probably develop its own network of lava tubes in time and will follow the same pattern as the others have done in the past. It will all depends what happens at the fissures itself as it could change direction at any moment. We were just lucky to be there at the right time. Call it a stroke of lava luck. Aloha
Superb, Sharky. The pic says it all!
always so interesting to see the lava.something I have never experienced in person
