Description
A canal on Burano Island. This island is famous for its lace but the locals also made a living from fishing. The story goes, that when the local fishermen came home from their daily activities in the lagoon, they went to a bar and had a few drinks. And occasionally some of them strayed on their way home and wound up in a different house. This apparently happened often enough that the wives decided to do something about it.
To prevent anymore of these mishaps, the wives of these fishermen got together and decided to paint each house a different color to prevent any more 'accidental' strayings.
This picture was taken on 3 July 2007.

A very beautiful capture here, Sig, with excellent pov! An interesting narrative which rang a bell in that I heard a similar story about the reason why some houses in Irish harbours are painted in various colours, and the reason was the same :-)
