Footprints On The Beach
One day I went to the beach
I was the only one there
This great big huge ocean
And I was the only one there
It made me feel grand
The ocean spoke to me
Made me hear its voice
And it was loud
That voice warned me
Not to get too close
To be careful
To watch my step
I listened to the ocean
And I saw what it was saying
It was big huge loud
And it was powerful
Putting on its show
Just for me
I watched as it acted out its role
Wave after wave
Crashing on shore
Crashing one upon the other
Rolling further and further
Towards me
It was a most amazing show
That I got to see
It was a one person show
A solo act
And I was a one person audience
It might have been
The best show I’ve ever seen
The ocean gave its all
Gave the performance of its life
The funny thing about the ocean though
Is that the show never stops
It just keeps going on and on and on
It put on this show every single day
No matter who’s there
Or who isn’t
I was there that day
And I saw that performance
And it was truly magnificent
I was speechless
And I gave it a standing ovation

your writing is becoming stronger the more you do .this tells a great true story of how we look in awe at mother nature and yet have to be aware of her strength and power .excellent work marilyn with a fantastic accompanying pic :o)..when you gonna give this new fuji a run out ? mick
You could have at least thrown it a Sand Dollar ;^) NIce writing work Marilyn, hope you don't mind my humor or maybe the lack there of!!!
Lovely words Marilyn and a great picture to compliment them. Tony :-)
... and I'm here giving you a 'sitting ovation' for taking me there. I do so love the sea - your words made me ache for it!
Well I live about 55 miles from the nearest beach, but I've just got back from there thanks to you. I agree with Mick, you are getting stronger and starting to transpose(not sure if this is the word I want) the reader to the origin of the peom's source, ie the beach in this case. Excellent work and a great image. Bravo!!!!!
We so love nature don't we!!!! yep so true, and spoken so elegantly about the oceans magic :-) have a fantastic day and very cool pic also! hugssssss
Wow what beautiful words my friend. I am such a big fan of yours. Very nice
Always so marvelous Marilyn!
Wow. Excellent work! I can feel the power of the waves in your words.
Beautiful thoughts and words, again Marilyn. And the capture fits, perfectly.
Well, Marilyn, you've become quite a writer, reflecting your inner most thoughts and feelings upon the Internet for all to read and absorb. Incidentally, although mesmerized by the size and action of the ocean waves against the surf, murmuring in your ear, you should see it when it really gets its dander up, and becomes a tsunami, or even during a raging storm. That's when the gentle speaking becomes an ear-splitting roar.
love your writeing style cool
What a nice and unexpected end to your poem. Living by the beach I can relate to what you felt, As for me, I always remember, that's were we came from in the first place. It was our first home...
Gorgeous work, Writing & Photography
Powerful and touching...I love this piece, and it means all the more to me since I'm currently in a landlocked country! NO beaches here...not even piddly little freshwater ones the size of a kiddie pool! Great mood here too, and I love the image that goes with it.
