Description

Cava Arquejada", que es uno de los más emblemáticos "pous de neu" (pozos de nieve o neveros) de las montañas valencianas. Aunque está pendiente todavía de una necesaria rehabilitación, es un verdadero monumento de nuestra arquitectura rural popular, que nos recuerda que, durante siglos, vecinos de Agres y de otros pueblos de la Sierra Mariola almacenaban nieve en estos grandes depósitos de piedra para que, transformada en hielo, fuera transportada a numerosos pueblos y ciudades para ayudar a atenuar los calores estivales, cuando no existían los frigoríficos. Although he is pending still of a necessary rehabilitation, is a true monument of our popular rural architecture, that remembers to us that, during centuries, neighbors of Agres and other towns of Sierra Mariola stored snow in these great stone deposits so that, transformed into ice, outside transported to numerous towns and cities to help to attenuate the summer heats, when the refrigerators did not exist.
