There you have it Blender 3D fans, a project based on a tutorial I highly recommend. It's called "Precision Modeling" by Robert Burke and you can get it at http://www.rab3d.com.
The final montage was made possible with the lastest Gimp r2.44 - this little program is just getting better and better especially on Intel Core 2.

I truly know nothing of Blender, but I do know the Gimp, and even on the Mac it's terrific. This is a clean, clarified and classical vision of something as simple as pure mechanical parts, but they're in their pristine form, their "idealized" form, as if these were the templates the parts were based on, kept in a vault in the depths of the cosmos somewhere...It's simple, it's illuminated, your reflections are quite fine, and your blues (morphing as they do) are perfect for your steely & beautiful subjects. A crystalline and beautiful piece.
