What makes the photo for me (apart from the aesthetics of looking down the jet thrusters of a plane and the ripples in the air) is the inclusion of the one which has just taken off - it gives (along with the composition) some sense of continuity. There is a story (albeit a short one consisting of a short period of time it takes to take-off) written in the photo and that is sometimes difficult to achieve :)
