Description
Hey all. This is a texture WIP for my Skywyrm. It is inspired by the amazing texturing done on the prehistoric dragon in Dragon's World. Those dudes did a kick ass job on those dragons. Always a good source of inspiration. (Note to self. Don't lend out DVD's anymore, never get them back :P)
Anyways, I still have work to do on it, such as the shoulder area, some shading to the white areas, and some red in the wings. The membranes still need a lot of work. Testing out an idea here more than anything.
The Skywyrm will come with 2 textures to start with. Possibly this one, and the dark one I've used in all the other renders. Though it has a little more work to go it is more or less a "black" dragon texture, but without black. I took cues from Hollywood there. Even in Reign of Fire, those dragons aren't actually black. They are mottled gray, blue, with some rusts and even peachy flesh tones. I used Blues, Grays, Browns for my texture, and will likely add more in. There is still defining to go in it, but I like it so far.
Oh, discovered by turning off Hardware acceleration on my vid card I can use wings again. It's choppy but at least its usable. Wish ATI never got bought out, and remained in Canadian Hands. Maybe they wouldn't have taken such a nose dive. Who knows. I want to stay ATI, as that is what I've always bought and until now have never had a problem with, but all advice I've found as far as cgi goes is not even the ATI FireGL cards, but nVidia 8800 GTS. Meh.
Okay enough of my rant. Hope you like this WIP. Thanks for looking, and thanks for the encouragement.

Oh Yeah!!! that's a smokin texture. I like the image too :) I recommend e-GeForce 8800 GTS card - 320MB DDR3 (PCI-Express slot), It's a HUGE card, but it works great with all my Apps. (requires 2 full slots and a 400 watt Power Supply 26 apms combined for the 12 volt rails )

Any idea of when this model will be for sale? I was also looking forward to your Alien and Predator updates and have been on a wait list for some time. I am assuming those projects have been abandoned now that you are making this new dragon series. I was really looking forward to those.
Ok, this looks very cool. Its awesome to see other , um, "impressions" of Dragons. I just learned of your Dragon series and, being a leathery winged brother, I anxiously await. I assume you speak of History Channels show of prehistoric Dragons? and I concur.. NEVER lend dvds. Especially dealing with Dragons.
