Description

Another moment in the early phase of Humanity's First Interstellar War. A few transports were modified with hidden weaponry, in hopes of luring raiders into making foolish mistakes, While this one is scoring a hit on an incoming missile, there are still others closing in. Ultimately, self-guided missiles forced the development of more effective ships to protect the transports from raids like this. --- Another space image for me, mainly rendered in Bryce, with a object mask for the missile that's taking the hit. The starscape and planet and explosion are all added in during postwork in Photoshop CS2. Thanks for looking, comments/criticisms and suggestions (and requests, if anybody has one) are of course very welcome.

This piece rocks! I love the sense of color, drama, and scale...and yeah, your models are top notch and distinct. GREAT work. It has a nicely cinematic quality and I'm curious about how it would look with more defined shadows. I think the ship and missile configurations lend themselves to more stark shadowing. Of course some of the great detail would be lost, but I'm nosy about how it would look, just because I'm like that. In any event, this is a fantastic image...utterly compelling! I like the back-story as well.
