Description
Coming soon, to a garden centre near YOU!
This is one of many lovely Cinerarias that I shot today, freshly arrived. It was so hard not to buy many!
The "Cineraria" family of indoor flowering house plants is quite large. Today we have many wonderful hybrid Cineraria plants in nearly every color of the rainbow in both solid and bi-color flower types.
Several folks have mentioned wanting this in their gardens........Sorry, but;
Cineraria is now generally treated as a genus of about 50 species of flowering plants in the family Asteraceae, native to southern Africa. The genus includes herbaceous plants and small subshrubs.
In the past, the genus was commonly viewed in a broader sense including a number of species from the Canary Islands and Madeira which are now transferred to the genus Pericallis, including the Florist's Cineraria (Pericallis x hybrida).
Amongst the uses for Cineraria include topical application for the treatment of cataracts.
I already have the garden variety, which many of you will know, as it is Dusty Miller, and doesn't look anything like this! If you have a mild climate, or greenhouse, it might be worth a try though. Good luck!

Oh boy, Cinerarias, another species of lovely flower I've near heard of or seen before. Wonderful display, replete with a plethora of colorful petals in this capture, Chris!
A beautiful capture of one of my favourite flowers. I keep trying to grow them outside and some years they survive the frost if I'm lucky.
Beautiful capture.
