Description

This blue sweet pea made me think of a butterfly. I bet any butterfly who saw this would have romantic, sweet-pea dreams for a week! :) No sneak factor - this is from Ann's garden, and she was standing right there. I think she called me every day for a week, giving me updates on this plant. She wanted to make sure I got pictures of it at just the right time! (This is from July.) Ann tells me that blue sweet peas are rare. I'd never seen one before, that's for sure! This is a tiny thing - not much bigger than the end of my thumb.

That sure looks like a butterfly to me, with those translucent veined wings, but the resemblance ends there with that portly body. In any event, I really like the soft colors and fragility displayed in this sweet pea flower. Great clarity in this macro, Tara!

That is one beautiful sweet pea! You sure did a great job of photographing it for us. As a child my mom and I always grew sweet peas and I love them to this day, so thanks for the wonderful memory of my mom.

Would you believe I still have sweet peas blooming out on my deck??? It's been freezing and we've had snow on them and still they keep coming?? But I've never seen a blue one like this? It's just gorgeous!!!!!!

What a rare color for a flower. Rather turquoise blue on my screen. Wonderful little flower that could look a little like a Lathyrus. Just not the right time for that to be. Gorgeous shot it is.

I've seen blue and white and blue and pink but never one totally blue before. My wife loves her sweet peas and always has some strung up along the fence, I must take more note of them this next year. The veining is great reminds me of lungs, how its positioned. Fantastic macro Tara, excellent work. Bravo!!!!!
