Description
Michael Leunig is an absolutely wonderful Australian Cartoonist, who I'm sure has said some wonderful things about Trees...I just can't find anything at the moment...he does however have a wonderful character who populates many of his illustrations named Mr. Curly who lives in a wonderful curly world...
Of Trees, Rene Magritte said:
"Growing from the earth towards the sun, a tree is an image of certain happiness. To perceive this image we must be immobile like the tree. When we are moving, it is the tree which becomes the spectator. It is witness, equally, in the shape of chairs tables and doors, to the more or less agitated spectacle of our life. The tree, having become a coffin, disappears into the earth. And when it is transformed into fire, it vanishes into the air."
He sometimes painted as if "...the tree itself was transformed into a huge leaf whose stem was a trunk which planted it's roots directly into the ground"
from Suzi Gablick magritte p. 28.
Thames and Hudson World of Art (reprint 2000)
Both of these wonderful artists have been a great inspiration to me over the years and these are two simple images drawn in Expression 2 to pay humble homage to them both....

I admire the purity of these. If I lived nextdoor, you would have a paintbrush glued to your hand right now !. Just you wait, till I get to OZ !.
