Description
thought it would be
easy as a soft whistle
the last two heroic charges
blistering psyche against
a wounded dying giant
not so
not so
i can't think straight
there is only numbing pain
i sit and stare at the tv
i have no real strenghth
i don't care about
anything anybody
just crawling through
the hours, days
slow as a desiccated snail
the world out there
might as well not be
i'm encapsulated
deep inside myself
horrific dreams
as real
as a private hell can be
to sleep is to enter
a maze of horrid images
dogs dying in my arms
tear-gas, fists flying
wounded horses
all these ugly fights
of my past
exploding
in my inner-eye
never thought
the end
would be
the hardest part
i started
so many poems
i can't finish
i might as well
stop
here

Excellent poem Dirk. It does get better once you start healing. Lots of feeling and emotion here. Excellent work. Bunny
dark days D...praying for some light for you
Excellent poem , Thanks for sharing . Ana
All your emotions in there trying to explode, Dirk. It's a splendid poem. I bet you shall feel better and stronger each day and you shall remember all this like a bad dream. Cheer up my friend ;O)
tears...A beyond-vivid glimpse via your words, dearest Dirk, into the very epitomy of darkness. And yet, despite your own inability to realize, fully, you have completed (and exquisitely) what you, yourself, thought you could not...creation itself...that, unbeknownst (perhaps even to yourself)...scoffs, laughs, mocks...this damned beast. All my love and strength to you, dear man...and the fortitude to continue placing one foot in front of the other, step by tiniest step..until you wake one day very soon...to turn softly...look over your shoulder...and smile...with the realization of exactly how far, even in your frailest human moments, you have been able to stumble along...(((Dirk)))
Moved beyond words, all I can do is bear witness.
Words that make my heart ache for you. May God give you strength and courage and healing.
I know exactly what you are going through... For me my belief in my Father is giving me peace. I know you don't belief in Him, but nevertheless, I will pray for you !
Dirk - stop....here - for today, as in your poem said. Gathering a little bit of power once more. Trying to proceed - just a little step tomorrow - Would make your friends here happy. Only the best for you in these difficult days ;)
So courageous in sharing your fears/pain/moments. Today in the US we give thanks, today I am grateful to have read your poem and to know that you are with us. My thoughts are with you, an artist I have never met but feel as though I have known for years.... Strength is a fickle friend, it hides and morphs many times over the course of our lives, I hope you find it again Dirk [=
A excellent poem and illustration too my friend....!!!! I wait and I request to God that you recover soon....!!!
Wonderful poem. I wish you the best.
Deep and touching poem. powerful beyond its words. My prayers go with you dear friend.
my heart goes out to you Dirk !
Dirk, I know it's easy for someone who has not been there to say hang in there my friend it gets easier. But when some one who has been there and is there, and still hanging tells you that, you should believe it. Now my friend come across with a happier poem. Give your dogs a pat on the head and talk to them every evening, I do and I believe it helps. Al.
Darkest is the night, before the dawn creeps through, pushing night aside, allowing the sun to shine again. Your poetry is beautiful, reaching deep into our souls. I hope that we can reach into your soul, and give you strength and hope to move forward, one step at a time. One foot in front of the other.
One day at a time, and if that's too much one hour at a time!
I bet it really sucks. God bless my friend. xoxoxoox's (:
