Description
Nikon 7900 pocket camera - hand held image.
This is an early instar (molting) color variation. The colors change as each molting takes place and becomes almost black in the last stages before spinning a chrysalis. I will show a later instar variation tomorrow.

A great macro and I like the composition.
Great complimentary colours, almost exact opposites! Beautiful high-key image.
It reminds me of a bottle brush all the tufts like that. Fantastic detail. Bravo!!!!!
wow, good shot, and what an amazing animal, great
Almost looks a little prickly doesn't it! Very well done!
Oh my gosh! The bug is great and the color is fabulous but you got it on the perfect color matched branch. The two colors are magical together and command such attention! I love this, Lee! Totally stellar!
A great macro.. beautiful.. look at those hairs.. brrrrr...
Perfect shot!! :O) ROBY :o)
It's a beauty! Excellent capture. Very fuzzy caterpillar. Bunny
we had thousands of these critters here and I cut them out of trees for a neighbor.they attacked one of my trees but I got rid of them pronto
The colors here a great from a photo perspective...but, I think this caterpillar had better find a darker looking branch otherwise his attempt at camoflauge will fail...and we won't get to see the later instar stage....LOL! Neat lookin' pillar!
