Description
This gate is out in the woods at my sister-in-law Cindy's place. There isn't any fence . . . just this gate. It was like that when they bought the property. I've always loved it, and today seemed an appropriate time to share it with you.
I was over there today to celebrate Cindy's mom's life. Kay passed away on October 24th. (I posted her picture in my gallery a couple months ago.)
The gate seemed an interesting metaphor. You may feel free to make of it what you will.

The golden gate stretched far and wide, Till the eye can see, The line of beauty never fading, Strong, bewildered and free. Caste a gaze by the shadowed eye, It brings the brilliance bound, But in the pupil suffering For despair is the sound. It echoes each vibrant step, As if waiting for light, Even with the brilliance, Despair steps in sight. Even with the beauty hold, And with the gate solid gold, Despair lurks round and round, Bringing glory to the ground. And this alas, the golden gate, Not beautiful, but nor in despair, Not enough to shine the world, But given enough thou care. Viraj Bhanshaly
i ve looked at this 4 times tara and each time i`ve found a different meaning to it ,so it shows what a great shot this is if it evokes something from everyone that looks at it .excellent my friend mick
I think it may well have been said by everybody else, it is a fine image you put before us Tara. Wonderful sepia tones, it could be called the gate of rememberence, remember those that have gone. Each and everyone will come up with a different thought of what it means to them. You have created a wonderful piece of 'Art' for that is what it is. Truly excellent work. Bravo!!!!!
Excellent photography my friend!
Fantastic shot . I love it !! Ana
This is a great shot. i really like it :)
My first question is - are you sure it is not out-to nowhere ? Beautiful old gate. Nice done with the sepia :-)
Fascinating image!! Outstanding lighting and the tons fit perfect for this one !!
Hehe!!! Fantastic capture!!! Very interesting gate indeed! Love the postwork too!!!
Fine POV, clarity and colors in this shot of the antiquated gate and overgrowth, Tara. Incidentally, does the gate have hinges and a handle/lock, or is it a facade and just for show and inoperable?
A very intriguing remnant!
Un fantastico trabajo ... lleno de otoƱo... y recuerdos-..... Genial tu trabajo Tara!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Beautiful and thought provoking picture ;O)
I like this type of thing in a garden. I love the whimsy involved. Good shot.
I see it as the gateway to our imagination, passing through it can take you anywhere you dare to imagine or dream. Fantastic shot!!!
It must be the gate to some mystic time warp. The sepia tint adds a nice old fashioned effect to this wonderful old gate. Great capture!
great capture...
I love it. it opens the mind to dream where ever the mind wants it to go. I love what you did to it. very nice my friend :)
This is great, Its the sort of place where childrens imaginations would go wild, guessing what could be on the other side. (and adults lol.)
It does bring a few thoughts to mind... thanks for sharing.
Like this very much. I find it rather enticing and the warm tones add to the sense antiquity but also a welcoming feel. What stories it could tell.
