Description

Imperial Palace Gardens, Tokyo, Japan. This was the first time that I shot into the sun through a water fountain. I had just acquired a 105mm lens and this is what I used. The picture was taken in June 1967. One never knew how the pictures turned out until they came back. The originals were dias. The sun was pale, it was late afternoon in a big city, but the sunlight sparkled in the water jets of the fountain. It was that what I liked. Two years later I had a print made ($1.05 ea) to give to my parents. The first thing I noticed, the sparkle of the sunlight was gone. 34 years later I scanned the picture to prevent further deterioration, but the sun had almost disappeared (its still there, above the lower left roof edge of the building on the right). This picture is one of my favorite travel shots. Have a nice weekend.

Good of you to show us some of your favourite pictures around the world from the past. Although you say there is some deterioration, this is still a stunning image. I doubt that I will travel so widely in my lifetime so Thanks for sharing.
