Description
Passengers are boarding a second generation ICE train at one of the platforms on the lower level of the Hauptbahnhof. Trains using these platforms approach and depart the station underground in a north/south direction. When leaving in a southerly direction they travel underneath the river Spree.
These ICE trains connect Munich with Hamburg via Berlin. They are cleared to travel at speeds of up to 205mph where feasible. This picture was taken in September 2006.
