Description
Nikon 7900 image.
I spend an hour or so each day wandering around my property looking for some new little critter to capture with my camera. Some days I find none and some days I find several but I am almost always the one who is looking and they are almost always the ones who are hiding, lol.
However, on occasion, some of these little critters turn the table and appear to come looking for me. Such is the case with today's posting.
I was sitting on the end of my dock and eating watermelon when this little beauty decided to investigate either me or the melon, lol.
It landed on my leg just below the knee and when I put my hand close, it climbed right onto my finger, where it happily licked watermelon juice off my fingertip while I took a few pics.
I will show the top side of it's wings tomorrow for those interested. It seemed in no hurry to leave and was very cooperative.
Thanks to those who take the time to comment.

This is a soft but detailed shot. An excellent macro. Look how tiny it is. The head is even clear! I very much want to see the other side.
A great photo! Great story to go with it. ~happy bug hunting~
What a lucky man you are to have a butterfly climb on your finger! This is a excellent shot.
I think you have a gift with these creatures, not to mention the outstanding photography
Beautiful butterfly...
Fantastic details and colour. You are a big friends of this buttys... Hugs
Great story, fantastic macro shot!
I think these critters sense your gentle soul, they know that you are no threat to them. As well as having a nice little taste of melon juice. I think maybe Noah's Ark landed in your back yard Lee, for you seem to have far more little critters than anyone else I know. Excellent photography! Thanks for sharing. Bravo!!!!!
this is so sweet Lee; you spend so much time out in the field, that they know and trust you. This is gorgeous... perfect photo. I love this.
