great dramatic battle scene with excellent waves

Nice image. But just a few observations: A ship of the size of the Victory would never have conducted a battle in weather and waves that large. With waves that big there was a very real fear of sinking the ship if the lower gunports were open, since they were normally only 4-6 ft above the surface, and would be awash or underwater as the ship rolled in the swells. The battle would be poseponed until the weather was better and the waves were less active. Also, in a battle the set of the sails would be in battle configuration. This means that the lowest courses (sails), the fore and aft sprits'l's, etc., would be furled up to lessen the chance of them catching fire from incoming flaming debris or sparks from the guns. And the other outboard sails (the stuns'l's) would not be used at all. The sail configuration portrayed in this render was used when there was very little or no wind, maximizing the sail area to catch any wind at all. The waves this large would only kick up if there was a storm coming on. (there is rain and dark clouds in the scene, so this is a logical conclusion)Also, if the waves were this large and the ship was pitching and rolling in the crests and troughs, there would be water streaming down and off of the ship, as well as white tops on the wavecrests and a large bow-wave as the ship crashed through each wavefront, throwing up lots of water. A very good first effort, just needs a little more A2D (Attention to Details)...
