Description
Every year in Japan in the month of August, the Japanese will visit the graves of relatives with food offering. Obon which is similar to Memorial Day is an annual Buddhist event for commemorating one's ancestors. Lanterns are hung to guide the spirits and a dance (Bon Odori) is followed. In a little town called Chibiki, these lanterns were hung. The town is very small and a couple awaits for the event to kick in. As for me, I just got back from Mt Iwaki and Hirosaki Castle. Aloha and thank you for viewing

Great shot with a light on a sitting couple and a lantern row in red lead us into the shot.

A very interesting story about the customs. I have found so many wonderful things in other countries and in other religions lately. It seems to be much like a Halloween celebration only in a different month, or like Day of the Dead in Mexico. Excellent shot.
It sounds a wonderful ceremony of remembrance, Errol. A wonderful shot that has such a feeling of expectation for waht is to come. Aloha. Diane.
