Description
This cottage along SH1 two hours North of Wellington has been much photographed over the years. Perhaps partly because of its proximity to the highway and its elevation and orientation, but mainly for the simple elegance of the architecture. It used to be twice as long but is gradually falling into the landscape. Formerly a house with children, then a haybarn, now it is a sentinel. How many generations of sheep it has presided over is anybody's guess.
