Description
I am doing this to try to cheer myself up a bit so please excuse me. This is a 100% true story and I created the image from my memory as best I could.
Float Trip: When my sister and I were little we spent a lot of time at my grandparents farm. During one visit we got the idea that we wanted to go floating on the big pond down the hill. Since we didn't have a boat we made do with the next best thing. We got one of the old, rusty stock tanks that they used to use to water or feed cattle in. The only problem was there were a few holes in the bottom but my sister and I didn't let that stop us as we took some roofing tar and small boards and attempted to patch it.
We rolled the large metal tank down the hill, put it in the pond, and like two idiots climbed on in. I got a old pipe from the scrap pile and shoved us out into the pond. So there we are for a few minutes at least on top of the world. Floating in what seemed to us at that age as our own personal ocean. :) After less than 15 minutes I recall my sister screaming as she had spotted a stream of water spraying up from our poor patch job. At the time I was having the time of my life and didn't realize it. ( note: if you look in the distance you can see a tiny figure running toward us ) That figure was my Grandfather who was VERY mad at our stupid stunt and was trying to get to us before we drown. LOL
Thank you for letting me share this story, I just needed to do something to clear my head a bit and hopefully bring a smile to someone else while doing it. Take care and please pray for my sis Veronica if you will. Thanks,
Dave
I'll post the credits later I promise, sorry

Good workagain erland
LOL I love this story. The image is wonderful. I bet you both got some extra chores for this stunt.
Very cute story! Glad you made it back to shore.

original boat :-)) lovely idea and work
What I enjoyed most of your art is that you reflect so well the joys of daily family life. Every time when I can go to your gallery that is what I really enjoy to look at. I enjoy doing fantasy art a lot, but I do not know if I can do artwork like these. Thank you for sharing your most treasure moments in life with all of us. Thank you. =D
Stupenda immagine , caro Dave ! Wonderful image, dear Dave! True that the farm offers various ways of getting into trouble, but it is also true that no one loses! My grandfather was very committed to ensuring worse trouble. But it is also true that once there was not much fun and our minds were stimulated to supply it, often with unexpected results.
Cute and funny story, Dave. A nice childhood memory from you and Vernie. I remember doing stupid things like that too, when i was a kid #;oD I hope all is good with Vernie now, since this post is some years old. +5
Fun image and wonderful tale, Dave! I'm glad I checked the comments and saw 'the rest of the story'. Great poses and expressions. Excellent capture of the moment when you are still in full enjoyment mode, while Veronica has realised that something is terribly wrong. I like the way you are leaning into the pole in enjoyment while Veronica is leaning away in fear from the water coming up. Your timing was definitely off. lol. You captured your grandfather's anger very well even though he is a tiny figure in the distance. I agree about the wonderful people at this site. And you are a prime example of the niceness and caring that flows from this community.
A super image and I can relate to the story so well as we did this when we were kids too though not on a pond we used the river. I'm glad your adventure ended OK like ours did but when you think back it is a wonder anyone survived eh! Excellent work with the posing in this image and you have managed to get that shore looking a long way away. I do hope you and your family are doing OK at the moment and that they are making more progress getting your city cleaned up and rebuilt. I know you will be missing your friend heaps too. Hugs.
Very nice creation, wonderful story, Lovely scene!!
