Description
Nikon 7900 image.
Today, while checking on the Passion Vines that are growing on my property, I noticed A Gulf Fritillary Butterfly hovering over the plants. I tried to get a pic but she wouldn't settle down long enough for me to get a shot. However, I did notice that she seemed to be laying eggs so I looked closer at a spot she had paused at. Sure enough, by looking carefully, I managed to see this tiny brand new egg case.
Last year I managed to get photos of the Butterfly, the caterpillars, and even some cocoons. I watched the cocoons for several weeks but unfortunately, parasitic wasps had gotten to them all and none hatched.
Tomorrow's posting is another image taken at the same time as this. It is a manipulated Panoramic - macro, if you can believe such a thing, lol.
Thanks to those who take the time to comment.
BTW - the egg case is yellow, looks like a little barrel cactus, and is highlighted on my finger tip. If I had not seen the Butterfly lay it, I doubt I would have noticed it.
