Description

...Well, you can probably guess the rest. Waiting for the grill, again, and checking on the fish (salmon, yummy!) periodically, and playing with rocks. What more could you ask for? I tried for a number of different angles, and actually had 5 different stacks. I wanted them to look improbable, and to try to be creative in my photography. I think the stacks were more successful than my photography, though. Thanks for taking a look. Anybody else try this kind of thing? I'd love to see pictures of other creative rock-play and/or balancing tricks in general. Dr O

The center shot with the sun is pretty cool. Very ancient-looking. Reckon your ancestors balanced rocks too? =) Have a wonderful 4th!

You balanced them yourself? WOW. That's cool. I like the way you've presented them, and viewing full size is so much better.

Okay, three things: I'm hungry now because you're grilling, or have grilled salmon which I love. LOL...if I had big rocks nearby I would probably try this balancing stuff just because you've presented it and now I want to see if I could do it too. Finally, this is a great trio of photographs!

Very creative outdoor rock arrangements Dr. O! The middle photo sure has wonderful and dramatic lighting, the left shows harmony with the plants in the area and stacking details, and the right shows off the rock texture as colored by skylight and also shows two carnes in a cool camera perspective. . . Excellent art creations, both carnes and photos, all the more so as this was done while grilling!!! Excellent 5+++ Google under images for "rock carne" http://images.google.com/images?svnum=10&um=1&hl=en&q=carne+rock&btnG=Search+Images gives 48,700 pictures, most stacks of rocks, but not many as near as nice as yours. "carn rock" (miss-spelling?) gives 9980 more, a few of rock or rock stacks "carne" allow gives lots of "meat" pictures, prehaps good for grilling?!!! Have a fine and fun day!

Wow! Wonderful combo of shots here! I'm a diehard rockhound...and collect unpolished stones/lapidary of all sorts...so, I'm also seriously envying you the rock-play. Savor it... :)

Hey, I'm grilling salmon tonight :) Your rock stacks are amazing. I've looked longer at this than any other image today. I can't stop looking at it. I wonder how big the rocks are and if you had help balancing. I wonder if you use any kind of glue, etc. I suspect not though. Very cool work!

Amazing work- both the rock balancing and the photography! I like the middle picture the best. Excellent choice of lighting. Maybe you are descended from whoever built Stonehenge. :P

Great photo triptych! I like the lens flare of the middle balancing act. Now If I had a camera (and rocks) I'd try this myself! somehow concrete blocks just aren't the same.
