i whould say ur on the right track, but ur lights are all wrong. and there is no depth i this render. changing camera angel, and light setting whould do allot. imagine a battleship fireing late in the evning, allmost everything is black. but around the guns there are light, light that show most the battleship.. A stary background, and a omni or 2 outside the guns. delete the sunlight. hope i was some help, not just putting your work down. cheers m8

Followed your link from a comment you left on one of my images and found this. Nice bit of kit, that bow wave is excellent, (can't do them myself). I'd like to see a bit more of the ship. Looks impressive.
