Description
A few years ago I've purchased three cactuses for my rock garden. I didn't expect them to survive in our climate of cold and wet summers and relatively warm and.. wet .. winters. After all cactuses are made for the desert.. not for the Netherlands.. But.. they all survived and this morning I could not believe my eyes. One of the cactuses had started blooming.. I expected it to be a rare event.. but it appears not to be so rare.. it seems to bloom in the high Alpines of Switzerland too and in Denmark..
Still I am very pleased with my blooming cactus..
BTW: the scientific name is Opuntia humifusa.
Thank you for your comments on my fly posting,
my dearest friend.

Congratulations on the blossom and the beautiful picture!
Lol you got the green finger though, great shot, love how it looks like it's iced and the sun is melting it brilliant.
A lovely bloom and congrats on the blessed event! ;']
Wundervolle Bluete, taufrisch!
WOOOWW !! How lovely it is. Congratulations :))) Thanks for sharing this :)))
Sure looks like what we call a spineless prickly pear in Texas. Amazing it will bloom and do so well there. The flowers are beautiful but they don't last too long. Good catch!
Beautiful cactus!!....
This is lovely! Thank you so much for sharing!
Beautiful! Congratulations on your cactus bloom, as well as this wonderful photo.
Hope my prickly pear does the same... this is gorgeous!
