Nicely done!!!! I read the original novel and its sequel when I was 12 and they've stayed with me ever since. The Pal flick was arguably the first modern disaster flick. Certainly the flooding of Manhatten was something audiences had never seen before. The Space Ark was a brilliant design and a marked improvement over Wylie's original design of a squat cylinder. On the other hand-- The names "Bellus" and "Zyra" were never explained and were not as good as the coldly scientific "Bronson Alpha" and "Bronson Beta". Martin Caidin wrote an homage, EXIT EARTH, that carries on in Wylie's spirit, especially in regards to the background politics complicating the effort to save something of humanity.
