Description
This is my 3-year-old lab/heeler mix, Emma... my baby! She became seriously ill late Monday night and spent the past 2 days in the Emergency Animal Hospital. After $1000 and several tests, they're still not sure what was wrong with her. They suspected poison, but that was ruled out by the labwork. Now they're saying most likely an acute baterial infection that invaded her gastro-intestinal system. I've never been more afraid in my life. It was so awful... you just wouldn't believe.
After going through an absolute nightmare with her regular "doctor" (and I'm using that term loosely, as the man is a complete ass - for full story, see here, and here and finally here) we found a really good doctor that took wonderful care of her throughout the night on Tuesday. She came home Wed. morning, a bit worse for wear and exhausted, but in good spirits and much better shape than she was. She's really hating that shaved spot on her leg from the I.V. though. She's just dyin' to chew it and I won't let her. :P
Here's hoping she continues to do well through the night tonight.
Thanks to all of my friends here who sent me notes & comments at DA, emails and site mail here at RO wishing my baby girl well. I truly believe all the love you sent out to her combined with the love she has at home and the care of a wonderful veterinarian named Dr. Graef, helped her to get better. I definitely know that it helped me to get through this horrifying experience. I hope and pray that it's over now.
I love you guys! :)

Hope all is well for you baby, great pic.
Excellent cheer they is marvellous;)*****. my dog is : Berger English : Bobtail..... good day...
Glad she came through! We had both our dogs sick by poison earlier this year and only one came back from the vets alive :( It broke our hearts and a hard lesson to learn (my hubby left the garden shed door open by accident and the dogs pulled down a box of snail poison). She is a very lucky girl and a beautiful one at that!
Oh how sad Brandi. Sometime I think the vets is just there to take the money and don't care about the animals. I really hate that. I am glad to hear you baby is feeling better and hope she is staying that way. She is a gorgeous dog hun. Hugs Luna
My thoughts are with you Brandi and hope the pooch gets well soon.....
Beautiful animal, hope he gets well soon!
