Description
Well, rhododendron season is about over, girls and boys! The flowers are turning brown and dropping to the ground, leaving little clusters of stems and stamens that will either be left on the bush or picked off, depending on one's approach to such things. The plant doesn't care - it's purely aesthetics. The picking off of these little leftovers is called "deadheading." It's very sticky work if done early in the summer. As time goes by, however, the stickiness goes away. If you leave them all year, by next summer they'll be dry, brown and brittle.
I hope you've enjoyed this selection of rhododendron blossoms - I had a great time putting it together!
