Description
Being on the catamaran was a chance to contemplate Thor Heyrdahl and "Kon Tiki". It even led to thoughts of reed rafts on Lake Titicaca at altitude and how they differed from the Egptian reed rafts of antiquity. Winds and currents and not stars and the sun guided the polynesian travelers. They had no lodestone and no "philospher's stone." The Easter Island head statues were the closest they came. Her Victoria 4 comes to terms with "track" and "car" and "sheet" and "single sheave snatch block". The rig is set for tacking upwind with a smaller jib on the same side as the main. and the main drawn near the center. You may have noticed how stiff the main sail was with all the battens and even tightly held to the mast by a track all the way up. A catamaran heels very little but can lift a hull in a strong blow.
