Description
This brass vent is in the tower of the Mukilteo lighthouse. The original lamp was fueled by kerosene, and these vents mumblemumble ahem mumble mumble. Now I can't remember what exactly they were used for. Something about the kerosene. Probably helped keep the fuel/air mixture ratio balance blah blah mumble mumble.
* sigh *
Well, it's very pretty. Brass vent. Number B 5. There were four more. They all looked just like this one, except they had different numbers stamped on them. B 1, B 2, B 3, and B 4. Just in case you were wondering. (You see, I haven't forgotten EVERYthing I learned that day!) I'm old. Brain like a sieve. The knob part is used to make the vent open and close! * Whew! * There's a bit of helpful information for you.
Make up your own story! I'm sure it will be wonderful! :)

The detail and textures are just spot on! You bring to our attention things we would never normally see. I thank you for that. Lovely capture. Have a great weekend. Eileen xxx
I have no idea what its purpose is/was. Okay, then I'll make up my own scenario. It is one of the components used in the TV series, Wild Wild West, with Robert Conrad and Ross Martin. The show featured all kinds of equipment like that. Brass was the big thing back in those post Civil War days, and into the turn of century. This object would even make Captain Nemo proud. That said, an excellent capture, whether macro or not, with a fine POV, lighting, clarity, and textural effects.
Gorgeous macro... splendid!
I love this, a very good idea !
