Hey, with all that laser-proof armor, didn't I see him in Star Wars? RoboCop, maybe. In any event, fine capture of this young fellow in solitude, reflecting on why he ever got into this situation in the first place.

sure is a lot of padding on him, must restrict the movement a bit, when my daughter did hers they only wear shin and arm pads for protection. nice shot, he looks a bit worn out too

Oh, how funny! I remember going to trials with my kids and grandkids. They'd arrive a nervous mess and worried they wouldn't pass their test. And when it was done and their new belt was presented to them, they let it all catch up to them... brain dead but body alert. :-) Great capture.

Super shot Kort - nice to see your artistic skills are being put to good use to record important moments that you can look back upon as reminders of feelings and times that make your personal family history. I wish I had taken many more candid style shots in the past as they are the ones that remind you of how you felt and what you were doing. I have come to think the most important asset the camera has is to record a particular moment in time that can be kept and treasured later. It is fun to use it as a tool to make 'fine art style' images but it is not the cameras most valuable asset. I am sure you saw the recent forum thread of old photographs - would we have been interested if they had been artsy images - no - they were interesting because they captured what the world was about and what was happening at a particular time. I've said enough - interesting compelling photography Kort not just because of the special moment for you but also for others to share and see.

I agree with Richard. These are the photos that we end up cherishing. It's the best thing about having a camera. What makes this one even better, though, is the skill with which you captured it. I love his body posture and the way he's leaning against the wall, all alone. This is so much more than just a simple snap. Thank you for sharing it with us, and congrats to your son on his new belt. Have a wonderful week! -M :^)
