Lighthouse
I have this friend,
You see.
He works out of town.
Here a few days,
Gone a few days.
Here . . . . .
Gone.
Here . . . . .
Gone.
Do you see how it is?
When he's home,
We visit, we chat,
We flip each other shit.
When he's at work
Where there's no internet,
The lines are dark.

Gone.

It isn't that he's disappeared.
I know where he went,
I know he'll be back.
When he's around,
I know he'll leave again soon,
The conversation will pause.

I took this picture of the Mukilteo, Washington, USA, lighthouse on Saturday. The lighthouse was built in 1906. It's 36 steps to the top of the tower. Not very tall, but it doesn't need to be!
