the correct spelling would be shepherd and oidipus. nice setting and an interesting motif for an image, im not sure the lighting is right though. try a light from above and one from behind...

This tale is so beautifully illustrated by this image, Jeni! I have to agree with chickenfly, the lighting is superb, the poses and expression are a perfect reflection of the tale and as always, your postwork is magnificent.

I spelled Shepherd wrong, sue me. Oedipus is spelled correctly however, if you own a Websters dictionary look it up!

Fantastic Morris, Ignore Robin - appears to be in a "mood" today - hitting several images always with some snide comment added to the good.

Absolutely stunning Jeni I love the way you used your image to reflect the story, which enhanced the appeal of the story itself. Also love the painterly feel to this render.. To be honest I wouldn't have even noticed the typo if it weren't pointed out because of the sheer beauty of this render. Simlpy MAGNFICENT! =)

When you first showed me the image I just sat and stared for a long time drinking in every line, all the colors and the expressions... what really moved me are their eyes, deep, penetrating and loving.. combine those with the color wash, filters and your incredible painting style and what you have a truely phonominal image angel!!! Beautiful work!

This is a STUNNING work... you have impute Myth and Picture in a unique and incredibly wonderful way...!! Looking at them, can't help myself of thinking that this was probably the last time they were seeing each other... because... allow me to go lil further with their tragic story... ...As soon as the shepherd revealed the truth, Jocasta, unable to shoulder the burden of the sin she had committed, hanged herself from the roof of the palace. Oedipus, gathering together the shattered fragments of his soul, drew the brooches out of his dead mother's (and wife's) dress and with them put out his own eyes, so that he might cease to see the terrible sins he had committed... Excellent work in every detail... Bravo!

Nice all round. BTW, if you are interested in a more off-beat version of the story, may I recommend Oedipus Tex, by PDQ Bach.

Stunning render Jeni and I love the effects you got here. You really captured a real tenderness that is quite moving. Interesting note about the story is that even though Oedipus should not have blamed himself for his actions - he still put out his own eyes because of them. In the shameless times we live in today I guess that would be hard to understand for many.
