Description
The only lighting for this Mourning Dove was with its head in the sun and the body in shadow. It seemed to be warming up its head after a cold night. The dove was not very close. I cropped to about 1/3 of the full frame for this image.
These wild gray doves of the USA have a distinct "coo" sound, almost flutelike and "sad sounding", hence the name of the bird. When they take to flight, the wings whistle loudly.

Good capture. Can almost feel the morning sun!
Splendid capture with the superb colours!
They are very wonderful to listen to in the mornings. Good photo.
Nice shot. Same birds are living here near Paris. I appreciate seeing one of these here and so well pictured. . .
It is a wonderful capture, Tom. I know that feeling, in sunshine, in shadow. I am certain we have a bird similar to this one here in Bay. I love to hear its call. God Bless, Hugs. Diane.
...and all this time I thought it was a "morning" dove. Nice find, and a good DOF.
I love the sound of a cooing dove, and the wistle of their wings as they fly off. A nice soft image where the branches blur wonderfully.
