Description
This was meant to be cover art for a story a friend was working on. A group of robotic "advance Preparation" systems were sent to Mars to lay the groundwork for a future Mars base. Unfortunately, someone inside the program altered the programming so that they would make a base a bit different than the original plan. Top that off, something major went wrong with the communications and the whole system was thought to be lost before it even got to Mars. So, 20 years later humans finally arrive on Mars, and find this strange construct that has been sitting abandoned for nearly 20 years waiting for humans who were supposed to arrive 15 years ago.
Thanks for taking a look, I did this one a long time ago, but still like the overall effect.
