Description
This is the Alabama Hotel, located in Winter Park, Florida. Well, it was a hotel back in the 1920's, but as far as I can gather now it's a private residence. Local legend seemed to indicate that the place was supposedly haunted, but I find that highly doubtful. More likely, it was probably brewed up by some of the Students at Rollins College back when the place was vacant for a number of years, and became urban legend. As it is, I do have to admit that the building has always had a sort of unsettling feeling about it whenever I'd drive past it... probably just the power of suggestion.
The photo was taken on a somewhat bright but overcast afternoon. I used a #24 red filter on it to punch up the contrast, and bring the sky out a bit. Funny thing I discovered was that the film I had shot this on was 6 months past the expiration date (oops....), which I figure dropped the mid-tones out a bit more that I'd normally expect. Only post work done was a little dodge and burn and levels to remove scanner haze, and adding my border and sig file.
Shot with my old Pentax K-1000 on 400 ISO Illford XP-2 Film, using a 50mm f1.8 lens and the afore mentioned #24 red filter. Post work was done in Photoshop.
Thanks for stopping by and having a look. Also thanks to everyone who has commented on my previous images. Comments and crits are welcome.
