Description
Thanks to bagginsbill, I now know Poser can render normal maps if placed in the gradient bump channel! Awesome. Here's the low poly model from Silo and the rendered low poly with normal map from Poser. Awesome!!!

Incredible results! This will really push the quality of renders across the board once more folks know how this is done. Beautiful work.
Well when I finally get a program that supports it poser puts it in poser. Argh. Good work there.
That is a sweet lookin model too
awsome model .. send me a copy when your done ^_^ merry christmas
ust so you know, Teyon, P6 also handled displacement maps...a little buggy, but it does handle them. Maybe they've ironed out the troubles with P7. :-)
It's a bit different than displacement, Duk, but you're right, Poser 6 handles Normal Maps too.
Your work has inspired me to really get stuck in and learn modeling in Silo!!!! SUPERB STUFF!!! Such a simple model in Silo but the result in Poser is brilliantly detailed. Is the detail from the map. If I did something like like and textured it, would the bump bring it to life with detail? I tend to get stuck on minor details like the abs etc on the model itself which makes it intense when I try import to Bryce etc crashing it most times. Probably a stupid question. Let me know if you have the time or inclination. Again pure brilliance!!!!!
Thanks! (sorry for the late reply) Yes, the map did all the work. :) It's displacement painting that was turned into a normal map and used within Poser as a gradient bump.
Interesting. I knew Poser 7 could render normal maps but I never bothered to look up how it's done. Thanks for posting this.
