Description
Nominated five times for the Best Director Oscar, Robert Altman never won. He did, however, have a dramatic and lasting effect on film making. That his realistic style was introduced in absurd comedies was, well, comical. I doubt the irony was lost on him.

That's sad... I hadn't heard. I actually worked with him once, about ten years ago. You're certainly right that the original movie version of MASH will always be remembered as his signature film.
