Description
One of a series of three works depicting the White Star 'fleet that never was'. RMS Titanic, RMS Olympic and RMS Gigantic as they might have appeared in the Atlantic for a publicity rendezvous. Fate intervened to prevent this fleet from eventuating...
Titanic, as we all know, sank with large loss of life after striking an iceberg in 1912.
Gigantic was renamed during construction to RMS Britannic following the Titanic disaster. Britannic was sunk in 1916 whilst being used as a hospital ship.
Olympic survived the First World War and operated across the North Atlantic for many years, being scrapped in 1934.

This scene took over 30 hours to assemble. Bryce 6 was crawling by the end, with around 30 seconds of waiting after every mouse click... All the smoke trails are custom for each funnel, as are the wakes of the vessels (made using terrains). There are vast numbers of polygons involved, over 1000 separate objects, and a few poser figures make an appearance on the bridge wings. Hope you like it, comments appreciated.

As I commented elsewhere, love the concept. Just a tip on the smoke, if you do a repost or another in the series here. Smoke as it drifts away, becomes "bigger" and more diffuse till it will blend with other smoke streams. You may be able to simplify this by using spheres, and multireplicate them back and drifting off to the side you desire. They then can blend, you remove excess spheres and tune their placement. Shoot a fill spot in for extra tonal variations and play a touch with the frequency and ambience of the smoke to give it that extra pop. With the wake, don't forget spray on the bow. These bad girls could really move in their day. Multiple ovals with the "Starflower" texture does a great job of adding this on a bow. Mayhap that keeps you away from the 30 second "click". :c)
