Description

OK this is a second post about comet Swan (never seen in Mssr Messiers list of things what aren't comets N'est Pas coz I don't think he was actually looking for comets - he was French). This is 30 minutes of photos (all stills) added together and put together as a short gif movie (30 minutes compressed into 5 seconds). It does at least show the comet moving, and not away from its tail as most people assume. The tail points away from the sun, not away from the direction of travel. I was glad everyone voted after my last post, and now Comet Swan has seen the results, it has decided not to impact the earth and cause the extinction of all life forms larger than a breadbox.

I am so happy that Comet Swan, in its benevolence, has deigned to spare the Earth. We need more comets like him(?) around. Very nice little animation, though I think you could have avoided some of the gif artifacts by have just one full sky frame for the background and by cropping around the moving comet in the other frames. Just a thought. Thanks for sharing!

I sit astounded! To think I'm watching a comet! This is so cool! I've often wished for a telescope. It's on the list just after food and shelter actually, but the cupboard gets emptied on a regular basis! Thanks for allowing me the glimpses out into the cosmos through yours! This is just too cool for words! Thanks again! BJ
