Description

Well, at least it's grotesque enough for my favorite holiday, and perfect for the occasion. It was sitting in the cacti section at the Rancho Los Alamitos in Long Beach, California. Just a few more days until Halloween, so I'll dig into my vast library and see if I can come up with anymore photos to celebrate the holiday. I don't know, this may be the last one of its ilk. After that, Este (st_fish) can relax.

I simply can't come up with what sort of cactus this is. Looks to be aged tho. The new growth looks familiar but growing on that trunk, I'm flummoxed. So glad to see this but I can't agree its not quite beautiful, only because the uniqueness makes it so. :-)

MrsLubner: At this juncture I'm sorry I didn't get in closer and take a photo, especially of the cactus fruit(?) itself. Maybe I'll pay the locale another visit later on and give it another try.

Very unusual indeed, well at least in my neck of the woods, maybe there are lots in CA. Oh I'm sure you can come up with a 3 headed Koi, or something like that between now and halloween.

Bravo, excellent ghostly looking cactus, at least that's what I get out of it, because it looks like a lot of broken bones piled up on top of each other. :))
