Description
Nikon 7900 image.
A recent posting of mine (Wheelbug) showed a bug that looked somewhat prehistoric but this one does so even more. I included an insert to demonstrate how tiny this little guy really is. I have no idea what species it belongs to but I am glad they aren't dog size lol. Of course I suppose that could be said about lots of (if not all) bug and other insects.
The full size shows all the bumps and such to good effect.
Update - I did some research and identified this critter as a "Jagged Ambush Bug". It preys on other insects (often much bigger ones than itself). Bee keepers consider it as a pest because of it's appetite and success in hunting bees. It is found throughout the U.S. and southern Canada.

LOL ( I like a dog size attitude) I am not fancy bugs, but sure you show us some really interesting species of them,I have to admit I do like these bug shot from you!
Excellent macro! Beautiful
It sure does look prehistoric.. I really wonder how you spotted it, cause its so tiny, thanks for the possibility to judge its original size, with the stunning macro
Wow !!!!!!!
you've found a terrific bug outside! i've seen something like this just imside a "bugs park". what a body!
Wow........!
Fantastic! I don't know how you saw this one either....
Masterful shot! You continue to amaze and delight with these wonderful creatures! Once again, the thumb makes the peek, even more incredible! Thanks for the reassuring inset! LOL! They truly do astound! There is no wonder why early film makers were able to pass off close ups of bugs and lizards as prehistoric behemoths! I would have to say in their case size does matter! Perhaps one of their evolutionary survival mechanisms is to be too tiny to attract notice, and make us feel threatened. Thanks for sharing. BJ
EEEWwwwwww!!! Great shot! You do bugs so well.. I should regret that I don't go out looking for them, but I will gladly leave that up to you. HUGS!!!
