I drove to Kona on the other side of the island the other day about a 2 1/2 hour drive to celebrate my Mom's birthday. We ended up eating at a restaurant close to the ocean at sunset. I was able to sneak out before dinner came to get a few shots of the sunset. I know it's not the best of manners, but everyone knows you can't wait on the sun. I wasn't in the greatest position to get some better shots because of my little time frame, but here's one I managed to get. If you ever get a chance to catch the sunset in Kona, don't miss it..this photo doesn't do it justice...just an awesome spectacle.

Nice work on this exposure. I've never seen the sun that big, so this is enjoyable. Hope you all had a good time with your Mom.
I agree with Loloe about the boat. The masts of the boat along with their tethers also goes a long way to enhance the shot. Try to look at the shot minus the masts and tethers and you will see what I mean.

I've pulled that disappearing act myself.But this was so worth it.That sun looks huge!Or is it that the boat is tiny?Either way,it's a lovely capture.I wish I could catch a Kona sunset.Hopefully one day I will.Hope your Mom had a most beautiful birthday.Aloha!-M :^)
